Rosarian Rhetoric Project

Reflection

For my rhetorical project, I chose to try and convince the general public that there are actual medical and therapeutical uses for psilocybin, and I chose to do this through a documentary. I feel that the documentary itself could’ve been put together better but the exhibition went really smooth because I had the chance to explain my claim more in-depth granted only like seven people came by me but they all seemed pretty intrigued with what I had to say and that was my intention, I just wanted to get people to think about the topic as a whole. My documentary was really undefined and it seemed really choppy and there were a lot of spelling errors but I see it as “any press is good press” and that it’s just the attention we need.

Well my topic doesn’t have an opposite “side” (what topic does) it’s more about informing people that didn’t approve and or have bitter emotions about mushrooms, so we’ll say the “nonbelievers” are the other side and they showed me insights on how I could critique my research methods and really put the negative effects into perspective. They also helped generalize some things that I had read pretty far into so that also helped my research. This project really showed me that there is always an other side to everything and that every side has equal opinions and validity.

I honestly haven’t learned a lot about democracy though this project because my topic wasn’t that political but I did learn that liberals are more likely to be more open-minded about this kind of stuff because they are typically more environmental and conservatives are usually more perpetual to there beliefs,

My political views haven’t changed because if you would’ve asked me where I stood politically I’d say that I’m politically agnostic and that I have strong opinions on all sides that alone would classify me as a lot, my beliefs are based on being able to take everything into account and seeing it all as equal information, and that still applies to me.

I feel like a willingness to be disturbed alone would jumpstart the process of mending the country because, theoretically if everyone just gained more of a willingness to be disturbed everyone wouldn’t be affected be little things and they would be thinking the bigger picture. I feel like we as a people get so caught up in all the petty drama and it consumes us so we don’t consider solutions that solve bigger problems, not only the psilocybin case this applies to things like Nicola tesla I more people brought that up there is no telling where our society would be right now.

When you look at our food system, what do you see? What do you think about? Is it the golden fields of California? Or the endless rows of fruit trees in an orchard? Not many people think about what’s going on behind those royal green curtains because most people grew up around it. Like a birth defect, you don’t think anything of it until you grow up and start to realize you're the different one.

This is how it has been for me growing up in the 2000s...
